The Louvre
Art lovers can take a pleasant 25-minute stroll or a quick metro or bus trip from the hotel to the Louvre. Housed in a former palace which dates back to the 12th century, the museum contains around 35,000 artworks. The vast collection encompasses Western art spanning the Middle Ages to the mid-19th century, as well as artefacts from ancient civilisations.
You can view masterpieces by Vermeer, Fra Angelico and Michelangelo, and admire Leonardo da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa”. Make sure you leave time to explore the Islamic art galleries, tucked beneath a 21st-century glass canopy in the Visconti Courtyard.
The hotel’s 24-hour concierge can help book advance tickets to save you time when you arrive at the museum. Consider visiting on a Wednesday or Friday, when the museum stays open late into the evening. The Louvre is closed on Tuesdays.
